Trogir is also called «little Venezia» because it is situated on an island and connected to the mainland and Ciovo with two bridges. This small town is a typicall Dalmatian town but also very special because it is one big museum. It has plenty of Medieval buildings and monuments which are under protection of UNESCO. It's history begun in ancient time when it was called Tragurion. There are two entrances to the ancient city: south gate (XVI ct.) and the north gate (XVII ct.). For those who like monuments, history and arts in Trogir you will meet all of that, Romanic buldings, famous Radovan's portal on st. Lovre chatedral from XII century, churches, convents and city museum. Trogir also has three forts of which the biggest one is famous Kamerlengo that has been built from XIII to XV century. Kamerlengo also gives very special visual identity to Trogir. UNESCO has also recognised all of that and in 1997. has included town Trogir into the world's registry of protected monument heritage. Small lanes and squares, picturesque restaurants and bars, souvenir shops and galleries, and touristic manifestations give this town special mediterranean feeling in night hours.
